A Home Care Package is a government-subsidised Package of funding that you can choose to spend on whatever services you may need to remain living safely at home as you age.

You can choose to spend your Home Care Package on a range of services, but one of the most common services paid for out of a Home Care Package is a cleaner.

What can Home Care Package funds be used for?

You can choose how you want to spend your Home Care Package funds and who administers the funds for you. The agency who administers your funds is called a Home Care Provider and all Home Care Packages need to be administered by an accredited Home Care Package provider.

What does a Home Care Package include?

A Home Care Package includes any care and services you may need to remain living at home. One of the most common services includes cleaning.

How much does a Home Care Package cost?

A Home Care Package is a level of funding that is subsidised by the government. You may be required to contribute towards your Home Care Package if the government works out that you can afford to do so. This is done through an Income Tested Fee form.

Full pensioners do not have to contribute towards their Home Care Package. Some Home Care providers will ask you to contribute a Daily Care Fee but this up to them to decide if they charge it. It is not a compulsory fee.

Is a Level 1 Home Care Package enough for cleaning services?

A Level 1 Home Care Package refers to the level of funds that have been allocated to you. A Level 1 is $10,271 (March 2024). You can choose how you want to spend the funds on whatever services or care you need to remain living safely at home. And yes, you can spend it on cleaning!
