What support can a Home Care Package provide?

Who is eligible for a government funded Home Care Package?
To be eligible for a My Aged Care Home Care Package, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Age: The person must be 65 years or older. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals can access home care packages support from the age of 50.
- Home Care Needs: The person should have a consistent need for assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, or managing medications.
- My Aged Care Assessment: An Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) assessment is conducted to determine the person’s eligibility for a home care package. This assessment evaluates their care needs, health conditions, and level of support required.
- Residency: The person must be living in Australia and be an Australian citizen or have a permanent residency status or hold a special category visa.
