Home Care Packages

Home Care Packages are ongoing subsidised packages of funds, provided by the Commonwealth government and directed and controlled by you.

What is the difference between CHSP and Home Care Packages?

CHSP stands for the Commonwealth Home Support Program and provides entry-level support into Aged Care. It is not consumer-directed which means there is a list of services that you can access and that are delivered by the government accredited provider in your area.

Home Care Packages provide ongoing funds that you can choose to spend on services and support to keep you living in your own home.

A Home Care Package simply refers to an amount of funds that you can spend on care and services you may need to remain living in your own home. The funds can be spent on what you choose but they must be administered by a government accredited Home Care Package provider.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages. The Level of Package refers to the amount of funds you have been allocated in order to spend on care and services annually. The amount rolls over each year if you don’t spend it but it’s a good idea to spend it on meeting your needs and goals.
