Home Care Packages come in four levels; each providing a different amount of funding and support. The intent of the Home Care Package program is to provide care and services to support older Australians to live in their own homes for as long as they can and choose to.
Here’s how much you will receive with each level of Home Care Package:
The Home Care Package program provides a subsidy towards a coordinated package of care and services according to your individual care goals and preferences. The types of care and services that can be purchased under the Home Care Package Program are meant to keep people well, independent, safe in their home and connected to the community. You can not use the funds for everyday items or to purchase care or supports that are already funded through other government initiatives such as Medicare or medication.

A Level 1 Home Care Package provides approximately $10,588.65 to spend on care and supports annually.
A Level 1 Home Care Package amount per fortnight:
$406.14 per fortnight.
A Level 1 Home Care Package amount per day:
$29.01 per day.
A Level 2 Home Care Package provides approximately $18,622.30 to spend on care and supports annually.
A Level 2 Home Care Package amount per fortnight:
$714.28 per fortnight.
A Level 2 Home Care Package amount per day:
$51.02 per day.
A Level 3 Home Care Package provides approximately $40,529.60 to spend on care and supports annually.
A Level 3 Home Care Package amount per fortnight:
$1,554.56 per fortnight.

$111.04 per day.
A Level 4 Home Care Package provides approximately $61,440.45 to spend on care and supports annually.

It’s important to know that the Home Care Package government funding doesn’t go into your bank account. The amount is set aside and held by Services Australia. To access the funding you need a government accredited Home Care Package provider to administer the funds on your behalf. You work in partnership with the Home Care Package provider to spend the funds on the care and services you need.
It’s good to know the funds doesn’t count as income so it won’t affect your pension.
Great question. In Australia there’s a single-point of entry for all Aged Care Services called My Aged Care. My Aged Care is part of the Department of Health and if you are looking for a Home Care Package you need to be registered with My Aged Care and you can request an assessment for support.
